Race report by Sturla Braten click to enlarge

Larvik Sandefjord hosted this year’s Norwegian Championship. The same club hosted a race in the Norwegian Cup earlier this summer so the track was well known to drivers, but before the National Championship the surface was prepared with Dustex. The Dustex gave the track more grip, and very long tire wear. Lap times for the track were around the 24sec mark for the best drivers.

Five qualification rounds were driven, and the best 3 counted. My car worked very well all day; I was fastest in the first round by 14 seconds!! After the second round the track started to get rutted, but after some setup changes the car still performed very well. In the end Rune Karlsen (GS/OS) was fastest followed by Viggo Andreassen (Kyosho/Novarossi), with myself in the third spot after qualifications. I was pretty happy with my performance.

I started as number 2 in my semi-final. I only had one full set of Panther tires left so I had to drive the semi-final with MedialPro Adheris. Those tires didn`t work so well on the track, but I kept my second place through the whole semi-final.

In the main final I started as number 3. I had a bad start and came out as number 5, but I quickly drove up to second place. Rune Karlsen and I battled for second place throughout the whole final until Rune’s tire came loose. I drove safely in for second place. My car didn’t have any problems (as usual) through the whole weekend.
